MISSION OVERVIEW

The Student Branch of AIAA at UC Merced Rocket Academy Team is targeting No Earlier Than (NET) July 16th, at 12:00PM EDT | 9:00AM PDT | 12:00 UTC for the launch of the New Beginnings Mission from Golden Plains Unified, California.

MISSION OBJECTIVES

The primary mission objective of the New Beginnings Mission is to enable the launch team to obtain an L1 certification. 
Two of the vehicles flying this mission, Phoenix and Bellatrix,
will be flying altimeters to obtain altitude and acceleration data to help the UC Merced Student Branch of AIAA better understand the dynamic conditions of launch for potential research applications.

This mission represents a new era for the members of rockets as they begin their voyage at AIAA and at rockets, hence the mission name: "New Beginnings."
The symbolism throughout the patch represents each of our members and the vehicles they've dedicated to this mission:
- Circumference: Mission name, our branch, and the team flying for this mission
- Upper Left: The Orion Constellation as a tribute to Alan's rocket, Bellatrix. Bellatrix is a blue giant located within the Orion Constellation.

- Lower Left: A pair of maracas as a tribute to Cameron's rocket named the Marocket.
- Bottom Left: A candle representing David's rocket named Candlestix.
- Middle: An orange rocket is seen lifting off as a tribute to Yael's rocket.
- Top: L1 - signifying the certification level of this launch
- Lower Right: A Phoenix as a tribute to Kyle's rocket named Phoenix.
